On the way home my heart starts to speed up again, it’s no longer from excitement, but instead from fear. My phone has vibrated so much that my battery is slowly dying. I’m way past my curfew, and I know I am definitely in tons of trouble. I’m afraid to face my parents, I’m afraid to face Court, but most of all I’m afraid of getting out of Nash’s truck and never having another day like today again.

Nash turns onto my street and I can see the bright lights coming from my house. I know my parents are inside worried to death, a huge feeling of guilt comes over me. I make Nash pull over a few houses from my mine, I don’t want them coming outside and making a big scene.

“Did you have fun?” Nash asks, turning off his headlights.

“I did. Thank you. So what happens now?”

“What do you mean?”

“What happens tomorrow when I see you? Do we act like today never happened?”

“It all depends,” he answers, turning to face me. Even though, it’s dark I can still make out his gorgeous eyes with the help of the moonlight.

“On what?”

“On if you walk into the park with Court. I don’t wanna ruin that for you.”

“It’s too late. You already have. There’s no way I can be with him now, not after today. I won’t be with Court. How about you? Will you be with Angie tomorrow?” I ask, not sure I really want him to answer.

“I doubt it. I broke up with her.”

“You did?”

“Yeah, I called her during the concert. We’ve been fighting a lot lately. I told her I can’t deal with her bullshit anymore.”

“How did she take it?” I can’t believe what I’m hearing. He actually broke up with Angie.

“Not good. But I can’t be with her, feeling the way I do for you.”

“And how’s that?” I ask, holding my breath.

“I’m starting to really like you, more than I should. I’m not sure where this is leading, but I wanna find out.”

“Me too,” Nash begins to shorten the distance between us. He takes his hand, places it behind my head, and slowly draws me in for a kiss. I swear I can kiss him forever.

“I can’t wait to see you tomorrow,” he says, as he pulls away.

“Me either.” I give him back his sweatshirt and give him another quick kiss before getting out of his truck.

I begin to walk towards my doom, but I don’t care anymore of what is waiting for me inside, because my heart is filled with happiness. Or least it is—until I see Court’s Mercedes sitting in my driveway.
